The Week in UFO Phenomenon: UFOs over Laredo

Howdy TWiUPians and welcome to your weekly out of this world round up. I have several stories I want to talk about this week, so strap into your command module and let’s lift off.

The most interesting batch of sightings in the past week comes from the lone star state and old Laredo. Now for those of you familiar with UFO history you’ll remember that Laredo was famous for a chase and crash report back in the late 40’s

The Laredo, Texas UFO Crash is a case in which at least two U.S. military aircraft allegedly chased a 90-foot-diameter (27 m) silver disc-shaped unidentified flying object (UFO) across Texas before watching the object crash approximately 30 miles (48 km) south-southwest of Laredo, Texas on July 7, 1948. U.S. servicemen were reportedly dispatched from a nearby military base to cordon off the UFO crash site until a special U.S. retrieval team arrived to examine the wreckage and carry it away to a military base in San Antonio, Texas. Supposedly, the badly burned body of a non-human entity was recovered from the crash site.[1]

This video shot a Pro 8 News viewer allegedly shows a light some say is coming from a UFO.
The light that seems like an ordinary star shone brightly over Laredo around four Tuesday morning.
Its the second night in a row its been spotted.
Witnesses took to the Pro 8 News facebook page posting details of what they saw.
One person said the light seemed to stay in one spot.
Another said he and his wife saw it between two and four a.m.
It was a bright white light and turned to two, then back to one.
Witnesses say it was flying around the south Laredo area, then flew back up to central Laredo towards loop twenty and then back around and down highway 83 before it disappeared.

In Sunday’s at the movies section I had to jump into the normal documentary and talk about another Chinese airport shut down. Unidentified things continue flying around in China

An unidentified flying object (UFO) was reported above Shanghai and Beijing at the same time on August 20.
The “colossal unidentified glowing ball” was first sighted around 9 p.m. last Saturday above Shanghai by a Chinese civil aviation pilot flying China Southern Airlines flight CZ655 from Shanghai to Changchun.
The pilot, nicknamed “The girl-picking mushroom 168” (采姑娘的小蘑菇168) on the Internet, reported the incident via Sina Weibo and described it as a shocking experience.
“[The object] expanded from small to large and was spherical in shape. It was hundreds of times larger than the moon and its diameter seemed to reach 50 sea miles (92.6 kilometers),” the pilot wrote on Weibo.
The pilot added that the UFO faded gradually after hovering above Shanghai for about 20 minutes.

“Based on their descriptions, the glowing object was far away from the airplanes and posed no danger to flight safety and civil aviation,” East China Air Traffic Control Bureau told the press.

No flights were affected by the UFO in Shanghai.

Some 1,500 kilometers north of Shanghai, several amateur astronomers said they spotted a “bubble-like object” above the suburbs of Beijing during a star-gazing event around the same time on August 20, Xinhuanet.com reported.

Last week there were several sensationalistic headlines along the lines of NASA says we will be attacked over green house gases and so on. Here’s what all that hubbub was about.

All of these scenarios and more are fleshed out in a new article in the journal Acta Astronautica by researchers at Pennsylvania State University. One possibility they've raised has garnered more attention than any other: An extraterrestrial civilization might notice our planet by detecting changes in the spectral signature of Earth — the light radiated by our planet and atmosphere — caused by greenhouse gas emissions. And they might frown upon our behavior.

The group's thinking goes like this: From the rate of change of the chemical composition in our atmosphere, the aliens will deduce our rapid expansion and, because of that, possibly view us as a threat, thinking we'll soon pursue resources on other worlds. Finally some sad news Bud Hopkins UFO researcher passed away last week. I don’t much care for ET abduction scenarios so his work wasn’t all that well known to me, but apparently he helped pioneer the field of alien abduction research.

Budd Hopkins is a world-renowned artist, author, and pioneer UFO abduction researcher. Having investigated well over 700 cases, he now heads the Intruders Foundation, a nonprofit, scientific research and support organization. Budd first became interested in the UFO phenomenon when he and two others had a daylight UFO sighting near Truro, Massachusetts, in 1964. In 1975 he carried out his first major investigation which involved a UFO landing and occupant incident in North Hudson Park, NJ. Shortly thereafter, he began to concentrate on the investigation of the UFO abduction phenomenon, which led to the eventual publication of his findings. Taken together, his three books, Missing Time, 1981, Intruders, 1987, and Witnessed, 1996, are widely regarded by researchers and skeptics alike as comprising the most influential series of books yet published on the abduction phenomenon. These works, Hopkins’ lectures, and his other presentations have been responsible for bringing a number of other noted researchers-David Jacobs, John Carpenter, Yvonne Smith, and John Mack, among others-into this extraordinary area of specialization. His documented discoveries have become the basis of most later abduction investigations and research.

Howdy TWiUPians this was one of those weeks when I almost put out a special edition so juicy was this news. England released another batch of files from their UFO cache. There was far more interesting news in the statements of Nick Pope the man in charge of UFO investigation for England’s Ministry of Defence from 1991 through 1994.

"What's abundantly clear from these files is that, while in public we were desperately pushing the line that this was of no defense interest," Pope told The Huffington Post. "We couldn't say 'There's something in our air space; pilots see them; they're tracked on radar; sometimes we scramble jets to chase these things, but we can't catch them.' This would be an admission that we'd lost control of our own air space, and such a position would be untenable."

Mr. Pope states pretty straight out that UFO phenomenon is not just real but something that the English government should have paid more attention to, and goes on to say that the “official” policy towards UFOs was to ridicule and downplay using spin and dirty tricks.

"I'm a little bit apologetic about this because obviously, when I was in MoD, I had to play this game myself. To really achieve our policy of downplaying the UFO phenomenon, we would use a combination of 'spin and dirty tricks.'
"We used terms like UFO buffs and UFO spotters -- terms that mean these people are nut jobs. In other words, we were implying that this is just a very somewhat quaint hobby that people have as opposed to a serious research interest."

We were trying to do two things: either to kill any media story on the subject, or if a media story ran, insure that it ran in such a way that it would make the subject seem ridiculous and that it would make people who were interested in this seem ridiculous."

"If it was my words, then I apologize, I'm very sorry for that. I believe in open government and freedom of information. I believe that the UFO phenomenon does raise important defense, national security and air safety issues, and if I helped kill any initiative on that, I'm deeply sorry."

One has to wonder why official examination of UFO phenomenon has ended in Britain, when their lead investigators says things like that. Kind of reminds me of what J. Allen Hynek had to say about Project Blue Book.

In a 1985 interview, when asked what caused his change of opinion, Hynek responded, "Two things, really. One was the completely negative and unyielding attitude of the Air Force. They wouldn't give UFOs the chance of existing, even if they were flying up and down the street in broad daylight. Everything had to have an explanation. I began to resent that, even though I basically felt the same way, because I still thought they weren't going about it in the right way. You can't assume that everything is black no matter what. Secondly, the caliber of the witnesses began to trouble me. Quite a few instances were reported by military pilots, for example, and I knew them to be fairly well-trained, so this is when I first began to think that, well, maybe there was something to all this."

Thinking of London and Remembering When My City Burned

Sweetie gets angry with me at the times I’d decide to still go into work. We just had an earthquake the bridges are down, and I’m going in. The hills are on fire and the sound isn’t music and I’m going in, but that’s how I rocked it at the time. I was what I called a Mark I Corporate Issue Sales Rep. I was a few years in and a rising star at the payroll processor Paychex. Locked and loaded with a territory to protect and clients who valued both our names.

The strands of serendipity are numerous in this world Rodney King and I are from the same town in Southern California, Pasadena heck he and I even went to the same high school and although we were there at the same time I don’t remember him. Good ole John Muir for every Sirhan Sirhan we turned loose on the world we had a Jackie Robinson, but poor Rodney.

I watched like the rest of America when the video came out. From my perspective it was an orgy of violence feedback loop, an ass kicking that that brother was going to take. Lay down Rodney don’t move man, but he was definitely knocked unthinking if he was thinking at all from the beginning. They beat him like a sack of potatoes, but this time it’s on tape. No way can the police get out of this one.

Simi Valley? That’s copland. Remember the movie with Stallone about the community where the police escaped the city to live, That’s where they decide to hold the trial? Ok then. All white jury? No, the pool was drawn from the Valley; there will be at least one Black person there, oops no Black people one Asian person, and one Latino. Oh boy here we go. You guys know the Stevie song Living for the City? “You have been found GUILTY BY A JURY OF YOUR PEERS. TEN YEARS! Huh what I didn’t know?” Reverse that emotion in your mind instead of an innocent going to jail being the American archetype it’s the guilty that go routinely free, live and on Memorex.





The verdicts came out in the late afternoon on a Wednesday. Not guilty said the jury. I had just completed my last appointment of the day and was making notes in my day timer of what I wanted to get done the next day sitting in my car on a side street just on the other side of the 110 freeway downtown. As the downtown area proper was my territory I knew the little side streets I could park on without parking hassle, and the little areas I could regroup in that were not so terribly dangerous. When KNX made the announcement I think the closest approximation of my emotion was “oh shit”.

My town was on edge and the Black members beyond tired of getting our asses kicked by the Darryl Gates led LAPD. They had adopted a purely military style of policing and had been highly criticized for their brutality and their batter ram tank that they destroyed the homes of colored folks with looking for crack houses, and where the police swooped down on apartment buildings and went on trips so wild they broke the sinks and put the pieces in the toilet the police had been off the chain, and Darryl Gates was mad anyone had the audacity to mention it.

By the time I got back to the Ponderosa the news already showed people beginning to gather by the criminal courts building in downtown, and the first chants of “No Justice No Peace” were being heard. I can recall our media, but not exactly what was being said, but I remember the emotion. They were getting smart, smug dismissive, and to put it mildly they were horrible. At least from the perspective of someone who is not part of the power elite.

That first night saw white hot anger from the community, and coming out of the woodwork some of the nastiest examples of humanity the White superiority state has ever produced in Damian “Football” Williams and his gang of mayhem makers. They danced in the street absolutely destroying the face and life of Reginald Denny, and Fidel Lopez. The corner of Florence and Normandie became almost like a charnel house of violence, and at the time the only thing I could think of was where in the hell are the police? Any other time they would have taken this opportunity to take care of business. Any other time there would be no way a man could be smacked with a concrete block on national television and there be no response.



They fled the scene. At the time I recalls thinking not so brave when it’s not 6 on 1 are you? I remember thinking get the hell in there!!! How can it be that a sole Black man with a bible has more heart than you? What the entire heck are we paying you for just to kick our asses when you have the advantage? Thank the lord for Bobby Green Jr. who saw Reginald Denny being beaten to nearly death on television. He left his home for the corner of Florence and Normandie, and did what LA’s finest would not do. He saved that man’s life.

When I woke up at the crack of dawn the next day as is my custom, put on my suit and wingtips and prepared to go to work you had to know I had Sweetie in my ear. No you won’t go into work today those people can live without their checks. No you won’t go into that city today do you know what is about to jump off? Yes, I will and yes I do, but I have payrolls to deliver! If I don’t go into work my clients and their employees won’t have their pay! Bwahahahahaha! WHAT AN IDIOT I WAS! I saddled up and headed for my office. All I was going to do was get 3 businesses their payroll packets and I was out. My offices were on the corner of Slauson and La Cienega, that was a bit north and west of the flash points. Things will have calmed down.

I knew things weren’t calm the minute I headed south on the 110. There had been reports of fires overnight, but you could actually see a pall of smoke headed up the hill towards Dodger stadium. Once I had crested the hill went around the corners so that one had a view of LA proper it was like a scene out of a nighmare. There were columns of smoke dotting the landscape. Traffic was almost non existent, and for the first but not last time that day I called myself a dumb ass.

I flew through the intersection of the 10 and 110 freeways and looked north and south from the freeway and I could see crowds. On the major streets people were milling about and it was still relatively early. People don’t really walk the streets in LA not like they were this day. I couldn’t get off the freeway on La Brea which would have been my normal exit, but I could on La Cienega so off I went and headed south for the office. That’s when I got my first full eyeball that this would be a most abnormal Thursday. I saw a dude basically cruising up the middle of the street with a powered walking fork lift coming out of what was at the time a Fedco department store with four maybe five televisions on it. I yelled at him basically WTF are you doing, and he replied something to the effect that they were FREE!

So, now I’m thinking to myself oh crap overnight we’ve gone from white hot righteous anger to shopping. I make it to my office with no issues what so ever. I do not know why my mind allowed me to think I’m Black they won’t mess with me, but it did, and I really don’t know why my lovely White lady boss left Rancho Palos Verdes for Los Angeles that day. There were a couple of my other Associates, women, who felt the same way, and I was able to convince them to give me their funky payroll packets I’d run out and deliver them, you guys go home.

I had 5 packets to deliver as I recall and I got out 3 of them before I decided that my life was more than Thomas Galisano’s company and my place within it. I started out in Santa Monica which at the time was cool, hit one on the West side which at the time was scared. By the time I was heading into downtown and my last two deliveries I had noticed that the liquor stores were being bum rushed, and hearing that the police had decided to try and take back the streets. So, I tossed the last packet I was going to in the mail drop of the closed building and beat feet for Pasadena, which was beginning to show signs of wanting to riot itself!

That was a horrible day and night. The merchants of Koreatown armed themselves and that was ugly. We had multiple firemen shot and one killed. How do you shoot someone that would give their lives coming in a burning building after your ass? Any of the righteousness that might have attached to no Justice no Peace was lost as people from all races decided to take advantage of situations.

Sweetie had no problem with me the next day. I wasn’t going anywhere the police were getting serious as a heart attack and President Bush was talking about calling out the army and Rodney King went on television and told the world “can’t we all just get along”. By the next day we had humvees and soldiers in our city and the smoke of our lungs wasn’t the brush fires we all had been used to, but the smell of businesses homes and factories that would be gone for a generation.

Democratic presidential candidate, Bill Clinton, argued likewise that the violence resulted from the breakdown of economic opportunities and social institutions in the inner city. He also berated both major political parties for failing to address urban issues, especially the Republican Administration for its presiding over "more than a decade of urban decay" generated by their spending cuts.[57] He maintained that the King verdicts could not be avenged by the "savage behavior" of "lawless vandals". He also stated that people "are looting because ... [t]hey do not share our values, and their children are growing up in a culture alien from ours, without family, without neighborhood, without church, without support

And then he and Lanny Davis went all Sistah Souljah on us, and decided that all those fundamental problems he discussed were not as important as him showing White America he could be tough with Black folks, and their legitimate grievances all the abuse and etc? Well ask the victims of the Danzigger Bridge, or Oscar Grant about that if you have the ability to commune with the dead.

African-American Congressional representative of South Central Los Angeles, Democrat Maxine Waters, said that the events in L.A. constituted a "rebellion" or "insurrection" caused by the underlying reality of poverty and despair existing in the inner city. This state of affairs, she asserted, were brought about by a government which had all but abandoned the poor through the loss of local jobs and by the institutional discrimination encountered by people of racial minorities, especially at the hands of the police and financial institutions

Conversely, President Bush argued that the unrest was "purely criminal". Though he acknowledged that the King verdicts were plainly unjust, he maintained that "we simply cannot condone violence as a way of changing the system ... Mob brutality, the total loss of respect for human life was sickeningly sad ... What we saw last night and the night before in Los Angeles is not about civil rights. It's not about the great cause of equality that all Americans must uphold. It's not a message of protest. It's been the brutality of a mob, pure and simple."

David Cameron? Is that you? Sounds like déjà vu all over again to me. I have to wonder when the real lesson will ever be absorbed, when will the root causes get top billing? When will the organs of authority treat the lives of it’s non white citizens as if they have value? How many more cities have to burn like London like mine?

Obama Breaks Sun! The Sun is Showin' Out! X 6.9 Flare 8/9/11 08:05 UTC Not Earth Facing

Angry sunspot 1263 is finally rotating off the Sun’s western limb and that is a good thing because it kicked off the largest solar flare in solar cycle 24 and this is after giving us the show late last week of multiple M class including a whopper that caused aurora sightings as far south as Nebraska.

The largest solar flare of Cycle 24 just took place at 08:05 UTC and it registered a whopping X6.9. The source was Sunspot 1263 which is nearing the Western Limb. Because of its location, any large explosions may not be fully earth directed. When watching new video images from the STEREO website, it appears the CME (although bright), is less intense than the one caused by the M9.3 flare from last week. A minor S1 Radiation Storm is inprogress.

400Z, August 9, 2011 - The largest flare of the solar cycle, an R3 (Strong) Radio Blackout, alternatively classified as an X6, occurred today at 0805Z. Region 1263, now poised near the west limb, produced the event and a few others of lesser magnitude in the past day. The region remains hot at this writing.

A quick rise in the protons at GOES reached S1 (Minor) levels soon after the eruption. Given the location of the activity, any CMEs would likely be directed away from Earth so no significant Geomagnetic Storm activity is forecast.

The Week in UFO Phenomenon: Sunday at the Movies! Dan Akryod Unplugged

Happy Sunday TWiUPians and this week we are going to present Dan Akroyd Unplugged for our Sunday at the Movies presentation. When you go to Dan Akroyd’s Wikipedia page you’d notice his occupations as actor, comedian, screenwriter, musician, winemaker, ufologist.

Aykroyd considers himself a Spiritualist, stating that:

I am a Spiritualist, a proud wearer of the Spiritualist badge. Mediums and psychic research have gone on for many, many years... Loads of people have seen [spirits], heard a voice or felt the cold temperature. I believe that they are between here and there, that they exist between the fourth and fifth dimension, and that they visit us frequently.[23]
His great-grandfather, a dentist, had been a mystic who had corresponded with author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on the subject of Spiritualism, and who was a member of the Lily Dale Society.[24]

Other than Spiritualism, Aykroyd is also interested in various other aspects of the paranormal, particularly ufology. He is a lifetime member of and official Hollywood consultant for theMutual UFO Network. In 2005, Aykroyd produced a DVD titled, Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged on UFOs. In it, he is interviewed for 80 minutes by UFOlogist David Sereda where he discusses in depth every aspect of the UFO phenomenon, and reveals specifically that they are blue, not green, but appear that way because of a filter.

On September 29, 2009, Peter Aykroyd, father of Dan Aykroyd, published a book entitled, A History of Ghosts. This book chronicled the family's historical involvement in the Spiritualist Movement, to which Aykroyd readily refers. Aykroyd wrote the introduction and accompanied his father on a series of promotional activities, including launches in New York City and Toronto, an appearance on Larry King Live and various other public relations initiatives. Aykroyd also read the introduction for the audio version of the book.

Joining him is David Sereda, in an interview like arrangement, who is in fact asking Dan the questions. Not that Dan is a professional UFO researcher, or physicist - but he does share is pleasant views on the subject. And, after all - he was a Ghostbuster! Anytime a hollywood star steps forward it strengthens the world's fight for the truth.
As a variety of topics are discussed such as the Phoenix Lights, Roswell, the Mexico military UFOs, and the NASA UFOs, a steady flow of quality UFO photographs & video footage adds to the entertainment. It is some of the best quality content ever caput red on film or camera, much of it you may have seen, but at least a few you may not have seen before.

The Week in UFO Phenomenon: Researchers Find A Possibly Crashed UFO at the Bottom of the Baltic Sea

Hello TwiUpians. It’s Thursday again and for those of you who follow the series you know it’s our normal full fledged entry in The Week in UFO Phenomenon, and this week the story we have to tell is a dozy.


A few weeks ago I put forth the question in a poll that if “disclosure” were to occur how would people like it to be done. In other words do you want the government to disclose, would you like the scientific community to “disclose” and so on. By a large majority people wanted to hear it first from Science. Well here’s a possible beginning.

An ocean exploration team led by Swedish researcher Peter Lindberg has found what some are suggesting is a crashed flying saucer. Lindberg's team, which has had success in the past recovering sunken ships and cargo, was using sonar to look for the century-old wreck of a ship that went down carrying several cases of a super-rare champagne. Instead, the team discovered what it claims is a mysterious round object that might (or might not) be extraterrestrial.

Lindberg explained to local media that his crew discovered, on the 300-foot-deep ocean floor between Finland and Sweden, "a large circle, about 60 feet in diameter. You see a lot of weird stuff in this job, but during my 18 years as a professional I have never seen anything like this. The shape is completely round."

Adding to the mystery at the bottom of the Gulf of Bothnia, Lindberg said he saw evidence of scars or marks disturbing the environment nearby, suggesting the object somehow moved across the ocean floor to where his team found it.

The object could, of course, be a natural phenomena, or something manmade.

Without any assurance it was otherworldly, The Ocean Explorer team initially said it had no intention to pursue further investigation after publicizing the finding.

"It is not in our sphere of interest to go for this object since the cost for each hour out on the sea are tremendous," wrote Lindberg, whose company has made a name for itself by searching for "fluid gold" -- bottles of champagne, wine and liquor that can be retrieved from shipwrecks, with great profit.

"Since it might be nothing we can not afford spending funds just to have a look at it, even if it might be a 'new' Stonehenge standing on the bottom."
But thanks to international media coverage, interest from around the world and perhaps some donations, The Ocean Explorer team appears to have had a change of heart.

"We will go out again soon to document and film the object," reads a message on the website. "We have received many emails that people want to donate money to the project. We are very grateful for your donation."
On the Ocean Explorer Facebook page, where team members have already started advertising"Secrets Of The Sea 2011-12" shirts decorated with a picture of the round object on the seafloor for $20 Lindberg wrote the following message:

Ok folks here are some relevant information; We will equipe the ROV with a real time 3D-sonar so we can get really nice images at close range . . . [W]e will use a multibeam sonar and an ordinary side scan sonar. We will have divers with rebreather equipment with us but they will be sent down as a last option. We have also thought about geiger-equipment. But right now there is not enough funds so we can proceed, we working on it though

G3 Geomagnetic Storm is Currently Buffeting the Earth: Auroras!

In the early morning hours UTC time of August 3rd a magnitude M 9.3 solar flare ripped off the sun’s corona. This massive event had been preceded by a couple smaller M class flares earlier in the day. We took one of the first CMEs from the sequence last night, but the M 9.3 being faster caught the earlier M 5 and they are both crashing into our magnetosphere in terms of right now

The Kp index which measures the amount of geomagnetic activity is currently at 8. (This had first read 9, that was wrong.)

The K-index is a code that is related to the maximum fluctuations of horizontal components observed on a magnetometer relative to a quiet day, during a three-hour interval. The conversion table from maximum fluctuation (nT) to K-index, varies from observatory to observatory in such a way that the historical rate of occurrence of certain levels of K are about the same at all observatories. In practice this means that observatories at higher geomagnetic latitude require higher levels of fluctuation for a given K-index.
